When Ally first arrived in Corinth, she was a young girl living with her grandmother, Kate. She first dated Matt, but then decided she wanted to date others, so they broke up. Then, after a period where she didn't date as much, she met Cooper Alden, the rich nephew of Cabot and Isabelle. Ally pursued him vehemently, but he rejected her in favor of the beautiful Hannah Mayberry. Ally found a friend in Casey, and it was he whom she turned to when she needed a sympathetic ear. They became close, but love was never an emotion between them, at least not at the start. Meanwhile, Cooper and Hannah broke up and while trying to convince her that she should return to him, Cooper saw that she was living with another man in New York. Although it was completely innocent, Cooper believed he had lost her forever and turned to Ally for comfort. One thing led to another and the two became lovers. Soon after, Ally discovered she was pregnant. She panicked because she was really in love with Casey. Casey, being the loyal and loving young man he was, said he would marry her and raise the child as his own. Unfortunately, she wound up marrying Cooper for financial reasons. They ended up divorcing, but Cooper and his family retained custody of their son, Tyler. Ally later kidnapped her son to a motel and with Caseys help, planned to leave Corinth. They were apprehended at the airport and in a dramatic courtroom scene, Cooper gave Tyler back to Ally. Ally and Casey later married in a romantic ceremony in the park. The pressures of their young marriage took its toll and Casey began using drugs. It was this use that eventually killed him, after being accidentally gunned down during a drug bust and dying in Ally's arms. Ally tried to fine a new life in Soho, New York, but found it hard to love again until she began to look at Steffi's ex-fiance', Tony, in a different light.

Ally, still mourning the death of her beloved Casey, came to the big apple to start a new life as a fledging photographer at the Wilder Modeling Agency. She hadn't planned on working with Danny Roberts, a man she professed to hate, for he was involved in Caseys accidental death.
