Sex, lies and a videotape do not add up to a very smart start to a marriage. So then, why hasn't Guiding Light's Cassie confessed to Edmund about what she believes to be a pre-wedding romp with their nephew, Jonathan? According to Cassie's portrayer, Laura Wright, it's out of pure guilt and fear that Edmund is going to ditch her before the ink is dry on their marriage certificate. "Cassie is constantly hugging Edmund, breaking down in his arms, saying, 'I love you so much; don't ever leave me,'" notes Wright.
While the night she spent with Jonathan is beginning to take and emotional toll on Cassie, Wright adds that the newlyweds' marriage is so far intact - but only because the groom has no idea what is bothering his bride. "Edmund, meanwhile, is wondering what's wrong with her and telling Cassie, 'I love you, too. What is there to cry about?' On one level, its almost comedic because Edmund doesn't have a clue, and Cassie keeps thinking, 'Oh my God, if you only knew what I did and how bad it is!'"
Is this marriage already doomed?
