Hit: Think of Laura (Wright) on GH

After tossing a drink in Alexis' face and the bitch-slap with Robin, it was clear that General Hospital had made the right decision in casting Laura Wright as the new Carly.
Wright got off to a bumpy start when she debuted during the train wreck. It wasn't her fault: GH wrote her as a damsel in distress, reminiscent of Tamara Braun's extremely-likeable-but-not-so-edgy incarnation of Carly. But then the writers got back to the core of Carly, and Wright was on track.
The actress is a good fit because she has the best qualities of all three previous Carlys. She plays a great bully like Sarah Brown, with just the right hint of trailer trash. She's soft like Braun and can play a heroine (heck, she did it for years as Guiding Light's Cassie). And she has the don't-mess-with-me attitude of Jennifer Bransford, minus the testosterone.
The writers are obviously turning Carly into a bona fide bitch again. But Wright brings a spunkiness and playfulness to the character, ensuring that she doesn't come off as a villainess. She also has terrific chemistry with every single cast member, especially Steve Burton (Jason), Kimberly McCullough (Robin) and Dylan Cash (Michael). Sonny has been preoccupied with Emily lately, so the verdict is still out on whether Wright is in tune with Maurice Benard. But even if those two don't click, it doesn't matter---Wright and Benard are both pros who can make anything work.
Everyone wins with nuCarly--even GL because Nicole Forester looks like a fine nuCassie.
