Laura's Tattoo
Laura Wright is showing off her latest body adornment, a butterfly she had tattooed at the base of her spine (she also has a daisy in the bikini area that she got when she was 23). "(My husband) John and I were walking down the street in Wilmington NC," Laura told me, "and we passed this tattoo parlor. I was like, 'Well hey, I know what I'm doin' tomorrow."
"I was going to get a butterfly with John's initials underneath it, but the one we found didn't look good if we put anything else on it. It took three and a half hours, and it was extremely painful--more painful than childbirth, because I had a cesarean, so what did I know? I was on drugs the whole time. But just like childbirth, once you start you've got to go through with it. I begged them to let me take a shot of liquor and they said no, because it makes you bleed a lot more."
"It was cool though, because John sat there and held my hand through the entire thing. He was so into it. And I absolutely love it! John wants one, and he's already designed it and colored it in and cut it out, a little bracelet thing he wants to do on his wrist, very John Wright."
Jennifer Roszell (Eleni) says she's "not a tattoo person." For one thing she is needle phobic. For another, "I find them appealing on other people, but I just know that once I got a tattoo I'd get tired of it on my body." If she were to get one though it might be "a butterfly on my hip in the back". I told her about Laura's butterfly in the same spot. "you're kidding me!! I didn't know that I had this psychic bond with Laura Wright. I'll have to check her's out, see if its something I would get."
