Female rivalries aren't new to daytime, but recently, GL has milked this soap staple all the way to the Springfield dairy. The success of the Reva/Annie battle, clearly the centerpiece of the show, and to a lesser degree, Jenna and Harley's sparring, has paved the way for a new pair of warrior princesses: Dinah and Cassie. Their little to-do in the bathroom at Towers proved to be merely a precursor to their knock-down-drag-out catfight in Chicago. When Dinah stormed the honeymoon suite only to find Hart and Cassie playing husband and wife, you knew that the snit was about to hit the fan.
Wright and Moniz pulled no punches in their wildly watchable rumble, complete with slaps across the face, playground-worthy pushes, and a few well-placed putdowns. This rivalry really has given a jolt of energy and proven quite a showcase for its performers.
Wright is bringing Cassie's feisty side to the surface, and Moniz is reminding us how good she is at being bad. As long as GL doesn't turn this feud into a gimmick, we'll hang onto our ringside seats.
