Cassie Joins Lewis Oil!
Ever since GUIDING LIGHT's Annie and Alan found Cassie Layne (Laura Wright,), they've been trying to figure out how to get her to Springfield. On August 8, they offer Cassie a job at Lewis Oil; her acceptance insures that their revenge against Reva and Josh is kicking into high gear.
"'They tell her, 'We just want you to go in and work there for a little while, just to see what's going on,' "explains Cassie's portrayer, Laura Wright. Because the hard-luck heroine needs cash fast - she's trying to get her daughter, Tammy, out of foster care - she accepts. "Cassie's seen the brutal, harsh realities of the real world," says Wright, justifying her character's decision. "She figures, 'I need the money, so I'll do what they want and I won't ask questions.' Basically, Alan and Annie are offering her all this money, so she figures, 'Why not?'"
The obvious "why not" of course, is that Cassie is Reva's long-lost sister, a plot point Cassie is blissfully unaware of ... for now. Harley and Jenna are about to form their own detective agency - and Josh and Reva desperate to locate Cassie, will be their first clients. "It's going to be interesting to see what happens," Wright muses, "particularly when she finally gets to Lewis Oil and finds that all the supposedly horrible people Alan and Annie mentioned are really nice."
