Jeff Sisk Interview
SOD 7/20/04:
What was Laura like growing up?
"She was very independent. I'm the oldest, Pam is in the middle and Laura is the youngest. But Laura was more like a big sister to Pam. Laura was headstrong."
What are your best memories of Laura?
"I just love who she is. She is not phony. Laura has one of the most pure hearts and is such a giving person to her family. She has lucked out to get where she is, but she has done so much with her life, and in turn, she has made other people around her better."
Your reaction when she became a soap star?
"Since we were kids, we all said, 'Laura is such an actress.' She could cry at the drop of a hat. When she was 17, she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and was sitting around moping. I said - I was an actor at the time - 'You need to get out and go to a workshop.' Laura went, (but) didn't get the part. I think she got a little discouraged. I said, 'Just keep coming.' Apparently, my agent at the time sent in a videotape to ABC Studios, and that's how she got on LOVING."
What would people be surprised to know?
"When she was little, Laura was sneaky. She never did anything that was crazy, because we were raised pretty strict, but she could look you in the face and tell you something just as straight as could be, and you would never know if she was lying. If I could say anything negative, ole Miss Laura had a temper growing up."
What would set her off?
"Me (laughs). We used to play kickball and softball together. I'd hit the ball and it would roll down the street. They'd chase it, and when they'd come back, we'd be gone (laughs). When I would babysit, I used to hide in the girls' room. Right before they fell asleep, I would start making spooky noises. Laura would be furious. She'd go, 'I wish I had another brother (laughs)!!'"
Has your relationship changed as you have gotten older?
"I feel closer to her now, although I don't get to see her as much as I would like. I've always love her because she's my sister, but now I appreciate and respect her. To be honest with you, I am so proud of her."
