Cassie and Dinah Have a Fiery Face-Off -- SOW 9/14/04
Dinah has her nemesis Cassie right where she wants her this week on Guiding Light.
Trapped under burning debris, Cassie finally meets her tormentor--and has to beg for her freedom so she can rescue RJ.
"[They] get face to face and Cassie says, 'I know who you are,' reveals Gina Tognoni, who took over the role from Wendy Moniz. "Of course, she recognizes Dinah, even though it's a different actress."
Which presents Dinah with a tempting opportunity. "Cassie's the only one who's an eyewitness to what Dinah did several years ago in regards to killing Hart, so she could let her die," Tognoni teases. "That would help her case. But she chooses not to do that. It's going to be really evident why she helped her."
Dinah leaves Cassie pinned and searches the thickening smoke to rescue the terrified RJ. "She loves RJ," Tognoni insists. "She really considers him a friend. She would love to have him for her own." After rescuing the boy, Dinah sends Edmund and Jeffrey to the barn to help Cassie.
When Cassie is safe she deduces that Dinah is the imposter and demands some answers, but Jeffrey--fearing what Dinah may reveal--whisks her away to jail.
However, prison bars can't keep Dinah down. "She knows it's not over yet, because her father (Ross) has so much influence," Tognoni hints. "She just needs to play her cards very close to the chest."
Dinah's reason for coming home will soon be revealed. "Her motives are pretty clear, at least to her," the actress insists. "I don't think it's been that clear to the audience yet, because the audience is still getting to know her. That's the peeling of the onion. She's a pariah. She's not to be trusted.
"Dinah's definitely not right, and I don't mean that in the logical sense, I mean it in the mental sense," says Tognoni with a laugh. "She's a little off."
