Raindrops On Roses

No one can say that John and Laura Wright rushed into marriage. Although they got engaged after only three weeks of dating, theirs is an on-again/off-again love affair that began a decade before. "He was my first boyfriend when I was 15," the actress explains. "We kept connected in one way or another and then after not speaking for a few years, I called him. John said he knew that second that he was going to marry me." Three months later, on October 7, 1995, the pair exchanged vows before 300 guests at an old plantation house on the water in Hollywood, Maryland, and partied underneath an outdoor tent. "Two nights before, there were tornadoes spotted in the area," Wright reports. "You know how it's good luck for rain on your wedding day? It rained for two seconds, and then it went right back out to the water!"

During their first date back together, the Wrights danced to Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." "John put it on and said, 'This would be a great first dance if a couple got married,'" she remembers. "I'm thinking, 'What the hell did he say that for?'" Three months later, they danced to it again - at their wedding.
