Hold The Pasta

Although it has inspired much controversy in the medical community, Laura Wright (Cassie) swears by the eating plan known as food combining. The theory behind it is that to stay slender and energetic, people should avoid eating carbohydrates, like bread, at the same time that they eat proteins, like meat. "Boy, do I agree 100 percent with that," says Wright, who says that her body and energy level both have changed for the better since she adopted food combining several years ago. At the time, she was a little heavier and was interested in getting into shape. "I wanted [a diet] that I could live with," she says. "Some people can eat carbohydrates and be pencil-thin. I'm not one of those people." Food combining "happens to work for me." But if you're planning to embark on this or any diet, be sure to talk to your doctor first.
