Any Guiding Light fan will attest that the gown Cassie wore when she wed Richard is one of the most beautiful daytime television has ever seen. Apparently, Modern Bride magazine and Korbel Champagne Cellars also though so: 'The elegantly beaded costume worn by Laura Wright (Cassie) was recently included as part of their "Ultimate Bridal Gown Auction" to raise money for the Entertainment Industry Foundation's 9-11 Relief Fund. "The dress itself was on loan," says GL costume designer Shawn Dudley of his masterpiece, "but the tiara that Laura wore is being auctioned off."
Alongside gowns from television and movies, Cassie's dress - as well as pieces from The Bold & The Beautiful and Days Of Our Lives - was on display during preview events in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles prior to the Internet auction on eBay. At the conclusion of the sale, EIF raised over $5000 for September 11 victims. "[Days costume designer] Richard Bloore was part of this first, and then he suggested that they call me," explains Dudley of his involvement. Believe it or not, Dudley wasn't the least bit nervous that the gown which took he and his staff painstaking weeks to create was traveling across the country and then back again. "It's been out several times for displays. I've got to do something with it!"
