The Best Big Sister

One of the greatest pleasures GL's Laura Wright (Cassie) derives from motherhood is seeing how devoted a big sister 3-and-a-half-year-old Lauren is to 17-month-old John. "She is so good to him," Wright marvels. In fact, when John was born, Lauren exhibited more symptoms of separation anxiety toward her baby brother than jealousy. "The first Mommy & Me class that I took Lauren to after baby John was born, he was about three weeks old," Wright recalls. "When I dropped him off at my mother-in-law's so I could take Lauren to the class, she screamed her head off until we got to the class and I could distract her! She didn't want to leave him." Even now, Wright adds, Lauren is very protective of her little brother. "I'll say to her, 'Let's just you and I go somewhere.' And Lauren will say, 'No, we have to bring Baby John.' She just adores him."
