Balancing Act

Many mothers who hold down a full-time job often feel an internal struggle in juggling their professional and parenting lives. Although Laura Wright (Cassie) initially waged that battle, the actress - mother to Lauren, 4, and John, 2 - says that is no longer the case. "I have found a wonderful way to balance," she pronounces. "I usually work three days a week and I'm with the kids for four, so I'm not feeling that struggle any more. Lauren's in school five days a week, and I have a wonderful live-in nanny when I'm not at home. Lauren's got friends, and baby John plays with me every night. I'm a major part of my kids' lives so I don't feel that guilt any more." Wright points out that the flexible schedule of working on a soap is a big plus. "I can be done by 1:00, home by 2:00 to take my daughter to dance class and then make dinner for my kids," she says. "I think the reason I have learned to balance everything is because I have learned to do things for myself. Like if one day I do things like get a manicure and pedicure, and go out to dinner with my husband and some friends, I'm able to do that, and then my kids have all of me."
That's A Fact: It's not surprising that the energetic Wright was a high school cheerleader.
